Our Story
The mission at Glorious Goodies is simple. It’s our mission to be Glorious for YOU. And we want to do what we can to contribute to your ability to Be Glorious. We’re in this together so let’s take time for tea and treats, yes?
Owner & Founder Larena Patrick learned that she had to give up gluten (and dairy) in 2001 and has been completely gluten and dairy-free since then, for over 20 years. Despite currently having more gluten-free options around, this wasn’t the case back then, and having to give up almost all desserts and breads was a big disappointment. After receiving her diagnosis, Larena started researching Celiac Disease and learned to cook according to her new restrictions. Then, she got back to baking and started her micro bakery, Glorious Goodies in 2009.
Some of her favorite childhood memories were baking with her mom who is an excellent creative baker, so experimenting with many beloved recipes to make them organic, vegan, gluten-free, very low in sugar, and GOOD was a challenge Larena eagerly accepted. This foodie was not to be deterred. The goal was to make baked goods as decadent and delicious as any standard bakery would. She believes that everyone should have tasty options when it comes to enjoying food with family and friends and that’s exactly why she decided to start Glorious Goodies.
It was around 2012 that Larena also began her personal vegan journey and committed to making all of her baked goods vegan as well as gluten-free, and good! Glorious Goodies are baked with less sugar and more love. Glorious Goodies are truly the good goodies!
About
I love a good story and want to hear ALL of your stories. I’ll go first. Glorious Goodies is a gluten-free, vegan, organic cottage bakery that makes it possible for you to enjoy incredibly tasty treats.
My baked goods are made considering the needs of those who have food intolerances, allergies, or restrictions FIRST, not as an afterthought. I make delicious treats with minimal refined sugar so there’s no need to deny yourself dessert. I want you to be included. I bake in a 100 % dedicated NO gluten, no dairy, no egg kitchen with you in mind. Some baked goods do have nuts, but they are labeled as such and you can request nut free versions of your favorites.
All of my treats are free from many of the top food allergies* and still are so enjoyable that even those who have no restrictions want to indulge as well.
You truly have to taste them to believe how Glorious they are!
*occasionally, a small number of items may contain nuts. They will be clearly labeled.
Greetings, everyone! I’m Larena, the owner of this fine little cottage bakery. I founded Glorious Goodies originally in 2009, when I learned about Celiac Disease. In 2001, it was discovered that I have a severe intolerance to gluten and dairy. Back then, it was quite difficult to find the desserts and breads that I had enjoyed until then and I refused to live a life deprived of decadent treats. Especially carrot cake!
Fortunately, my mother had encouraged my love of baking when I was a girl by putting me to work rolling pie crusts, making sheet cakes, and cutting biscuits. So I decided to “dust off” (pun intended) my baking knowledge and began my endless self-challenge of learning to bake the desserts I missed all over again, this time without gluten, dairy, or eggs and with very little sugar.
After MUCH experimenting, the very first of my favorite desserts was re-created: gluten-free, vegan carrot cake! It was then that I decided having the bakery that I dreamed of as a way of fostering community was possible and voilà, Glorious Goodies was created.
I strive to live by the motto to “leave the place better than I found it” with my business, so almost every one of my ingredients is organic and much of my packaging is sustainable or biodegradable/recyclable. I’m committed to contributing something glorious and I hope to meet you on this journey.
Now that you know my story, it’s your turn. I want to know how we can bring out the glorious side of each other. I want to make it easy for you to #beglorious so don’t be surprised if I ask, “Tell me how YOU are Glorious,” over a cupcake or scone when we meet one day.
